Local Advanced Training Events for Sea Cadet and League Cadets
During the drill season, we hold Advanced Training for Palm Beach Division Cadets and occasionally with other units and groups. These training’s count towards rate advancement and education requirements just like the National away trainings offered. Local training occurs during school vacation/no school day periods or may occur over several weekends. The minimum period to qualify for rate advancement is 5 calendar days. Cadets must attend ALL the scheduled advanced training dates to graduate the evolution. If a Cadet misses any portion of the training, they will not receive credit for attending.
February 2017 – Advanced Firearms/Marksmanship Training – 10-12 FEB 2017. Cost is $30 per cadet. This Local Training will qualify for rate advancement for each cadet that attends. Full spectrum training from small arms to rifle with NRA and FDLE certified instructors. Training includes firearm safety, handling, mechanics and maintenance, sighting, positioning and includes basic tactical training and breaching techniques. Separate trainings for NLCC and NSCC. ALL cadets wishing to attend must sign up via Magellan. Complete the Request for Training Form and submit to the XO. Download the waivers required and submit prior to attendance. Aviganis Waiver for Parent or Legal Guardian and complete the online waiver for Okeechobee Shooting Sports.
March 2017 – Advanced Seamanship – Cost is $125 per cadet for the full training. This Local Training will qualify for rate advancement for each cadet that attends all evolutions of the training. The training will be held over three weekends in March. 04-05 MAR 17 – Part 1 will be held at Coast Guard Station-Lake Worth Inlet. Cadets attending full AT will participate in small boat ops, dock procedures, watch standing and shipboard operations. 11-12 MAR 17 – Part 2 of Seamanship training will be held at Resolve Maritime Academy and will include Shipboard Firefighting, Bridge Simulator and Wet Ship training. 17-19 MAR 17 – Part 3 of Seamanship will be held at Coast Guard Sector – Key West. Train with Coast Guard on Saturday in Shipboard Ops, Deck Procedures, Shipboard Weapons and Navigation, tentative cruise on an FRC. On Sunday we will experience sailing on a majestic 2-masted 86′ schooner, just like adventurers from the 19th century. Space for only 49 people total. Travel will be by charter bus.
