First I hope that this message finds you all in good health and condition after the storm. Some areas were hit worse than others and we would like to know that all our Cadets and their families are accounted for. So please reply to this email with your status and if there is anything you may be in need of.
I realize that many may be without power at this time. FPL is working to resume power, which is expected to take at least several days. FPL’s reporting systems were impacted by the hurricane and may not be up-to-date. If you are still without power, please report (or re-report) your outage by calling FPL at 1-800-4-OUTAGE (1-800-468-6243) or through this webpage.
As you may be aware, Palm Beach County Schools and Parks are closed until Monday. I am currently trying to ascertain if PBMA will be accessible for drill this weekend. ENS Monroe did a visual survey of the premises are there are some minor hazards. School officials will let us know.
If drill cannot be held at PBMA, I will attempt to locate an alternate drill location. The NOSC is under limited operations at this time and is not able to host our drill.
I have been in contact with FEMA and the Coast Guard regarding volunteer assistance. At this time, we have ben asked to stand down. I received this message today:
“Thank you all for the enthusiasm and willingness to help!
The USCG leadership asked to remind everyone to please not SELF DEPLOY. The Incident Management Team is assessing and planning and they will be defining needs they will reach out trough the chain of leadership. So kindly await assignment from Sector to Division Commanders.”
That is all the information I have at this point. Further updates will be forwarded as received.
