The Palm Beach Division was commissioned on the 28th of September, 1985 and is for American youth ages 10-17, who have a desire to learn about the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine. Our Sea Cadets are authorized by the Secretary of the Navy to wear Navy uniforms appropriately marked with the Sea Cadet Corps insignia. The objectives of the Sea Cadet program are to introduce youth to naval life, to develop in them a sense of pride, patriotism, courage, and self-reliance, and to maintain an environment free of drugs and gangs.
Palm Beach Division Cadets participate in Community Service activities such as the Jupiter SeaFest, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital Hero’s Day, Memorial Day Wreath Laying and many more and they appear public parades such as the West Palm Beach Veteran’s Day Parade and the North Palm Beach Heritage Day Parade. The U.S. Navy provides training facilities and other support such as Recruit Training and advanced trainings such as medical, petty officer training, Flagship Competition, and the Navy League Olympics.
Palm Beach Division is a designated MAA unit (Master At Arms). The MA rating provides the US Navy with security specialists who perform antiterrorism, force protection, physical security, and law enforcement duties on land and at sea. Our Cadet MMA training is centered on the lessons and techniques the Navy professionals use daily. Joint trainings are scheduled with Navy, Coast Guard, local and Federal law enforcement units to teach our Cadets to learn some of the following techniques:
- Conduct waterborne security patrols and interdiction.
- Conduct Customs operations.
- Conduct base security patrols.
- Conduct base access and entry control operations.
- Conduct aircraft and flight line security operations.
- Conduct law enforcement operations.
- Conduct river security operations.
- Conduct K-9 explosive and narcotics detection operations/missions.
- Perform physical security inspections.
- Organize and train security force personnel.
- Conduct crime prevention programs.
- Operate brigs (jails).
- Perform weapons and funds escorts
We drill one weekend a month (Sat & Sun) at the Navy Operational Support Center – West Palm Beach. Some drills and Field Training Exercise (FTX) are conducted at other facilities and location such as the US Coast Guard Station-Lake Worth Inlet, Okeechobee Shooting Sports, the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, National and local parks, maritime academies and at US Military Bases and Installations.
Our unit is also the SWCC training contingent of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) NSWOC Advanced Training core (Naval Special Warfare Orientation Courses) which consist of trainings that are highly structured and specialized for Cadets that desire to learn about being a Navy SEAL, EOD or SWCC.
We are proudly sponsored by the Palm Beach Council of the Navy League of the United States.
The USNSCC allows young people to sample military life with no obligation to join any branch of the armed forces. Should a cadet decide to enlist in either the Army, Coast Guard, Navy, or Marine Corps, prior NSCC training may permit entry at an advanced pay grade (E-2/E-3), depending on the service.
